Higher Education

We advise colleges and universities on intellectual property issues related to teaching, course materials, scholarship, educational technology, and trademark protection.  We also represent many college and university faculty members in publishing matters, including textbook authors in a wide range of disciplines.

Our services include:

  • Drafting and consulting on copyright and intellectual property policies, including policies on copyright ownership, use of third-party materials in classroom instruction and online activities, and computer-use policies.
  • Drafting and negotiating agreements for joint educational ventures, online learning programs, and copyright licenses and assignments.
  • Selection, registration, and protection of trademarks and service marks.
  • Advice to museums, libraries, instructional technology departments, and publishing units on issues ranging from course websites to publishing contracts.
